The 6th grade will continue reading
Where the Red Fern Grows. We have been enjoying listening to the book on CD in class. This week, we are focusing on the author's use of imagery in the text. Students have done various activities with visualization where they have had to select a passage from the novel that demonstrates strong imagery and sketch it based on what picture it paints for them. They've done an excellent job with this so far. On Friday, we will have a quiz on chapters 6-15.
I reminded the kids that next week, progress reports will be sent home. This means we are half way through the first quarter. I told the kids that at this point, they should have achieved 50 percent of their AR point goal. I want to be sure everyone is successful at the end of the quarter, as AR will count for approximately 20 percent of their final Reading grade. Thanks for continuing to encourage your kids to read!
